The only way you can get the characters alternate costume is for 2 players to be the same character, allowing you to select their alternate costume. This achievement requires you to play as all 8 characters in the game, but also in their alternate costumes. I should say that this achievement does require a good amount of playthroughs, but not as much as the "So Awesome" Achievement. I could have explained this achievement and get you started on Step 1, but I thought it was best for you to have a playthrough and get you into the game. Note: This achievement requires you to either have a 2nd controller or extra players on Xbox Live. Now since you have won the previous race without using a power-up for the Pacifist Achievement (if you have), you will now be able to use power-ups and items to assist you in the races, as well as earn you more achievements. When you have finished the Challenge Event, you'll be taken into the 2nd race. Don't worry if you tried and failed on any of them, because you can always replay the Challenge Event again in Practice Mode. Some Challenge Events contain odd achievements which you can do. The goal however is mostly the same in which you would either need to remain in first place, earn the highest score of something, or obtain the most of items, such as candy. The Challenge Events will be random, so you will have no idea what Mini-Game you will be playing. When that has finished you will be taken to a Challenge Event. Once you have successfully finished the race, you will see the results screen along with all of the achievements you have successfully unlocked, popping in succession. You just need to use 3 in one race for this achievement. There are speed ramps on every race course in the game. Note: Achievements in this game won't unlock until you go into the Results Screen. By doing this you will unlock a load of achievements listed below. Do not worry about the power-ups or the other opponents, just focus on the race itself. For this race I would suggest you just hold down the Button and just cross the finish line.
Now when I first raced in the game, I must have grabbed about 10 achievements in one race, as most of them are really easy to do. Once you have selected a Short Game and picked your character, you are ready for your first race.
Lastly an additional benefit is that if you want to concentrate on 1 certain Challenge Event or Race, you can select Practice Round and pick the game you want to play from there, providing that you have already played and unlocked it. You can also change the race tracks in Reverse, which means you would race in backward order.

There is also a Medium Game you can select as well, plus you can create a Custom selection if you want. A Long Game will consist of 1 Challenge Event per race, but will have a total of 7 Races to play on. A Short Game just consists of 3 Races and 1 Challenge Event per race, which means you will be playing a total of 3 Challenge Events, 1 per race.

Now these options allow you to change the length of the Challenge Events and Races you play this can be changed in both Offline and Online games. Start off by selecting Offline Play, and then select Short Game, Races to 3 and Challenge Events per Race as 1. This will give you a feeling as to what you will expect in the game. In my opinion, the best way for you to get some achievements in this game, is to just play 1 or 2 short games to give yourself a practice run.

The strangest thing is that the code will not give you any additional unlockables, it only gives you the achievement. Once you've entered that code on your D-Pad, you will unlock this achievement.

If you don't have the instruction manual or you can't be bothered to read through it, then the code is. It will go on until page 29, which is the last button to press. You must then flick to the next page to find out the next button to press. It has a picture of a candy stick with a button you must press. The code is located in the game's instruction manual, starting from page 10. You need to enter it on the Press Start screen.
As soon as you start up Viva Piñata: Party Animals, you can automatically get yourself one achievement just by entering a game code that is included in the game.
